As a mother myself, The Spirit of Motherhood is an art project that is close to my heart. My hope is that with this collection of pregnancy images I can help to redefine the way society looks at pregnant women. They have a beauty and grace that you can't find in any other human being and should be reveled and appreciated for the miracle they are creating. Women are beginning to embrace their bodies as art and our society should embrace the beautiful forms of pregnant women right along side them.

Each day as I look at my own children, I remember those moments in my life when I felt closer to God than I ever had before. Pregnancy brought forth a spirit in me that was filled with love, sacredness and beauty. This spirit is what I have come to know as the Spirit of Motherhood.

I would like to personally thank each of the mothers who allowed me the honor of photographing them during this momentous time in their lives. Through the swollen ankles, back aches and numerous bathroom breaks, they each have shared something so special with me and I will truly treasure it always.
